Where did the angels go, cigarette smoke's all that's left,
G D
I've traded my wings in for a string of pearls,
             Em C - G - D - Em - C
and now the string is all I've le……………...…..ft.

   G D - Em C
2. The light bulbs burn so much, someone’s in the stall,
G - D Em C
big white brick wall, makes me feel small.
    - G D Em C
And I I take my shirt off, looking for a glimpse of flesh,
G D Em C
I peel back the concrete, I hope there's still some soil left.

      G D Em C
‘Cause I am fading, I am fading, I am fading away.
     G D Em C
I am fading, just like fairy tales, when the hero loses faith.
                           ~
    I am fading.

  G D - Em C
3. The air smells like urine, it’s getting hard to breeze,
G D Em C
I could walk out that door, but no one ever really leaves.
    - G D Em C
And I I take all my clothing off, trying not to forget,
         - G D
oh, stupid things like the color of rain,
       Em C
and the smell of stone when it's wet.

           C Em Bb A
And I am naked in the mirror with a feather in my hand,
           C Em
the lady comes out of the bathroom,
                Bb
screaming, "Oh, Jesus!" Like I was a man.
            A G
And I ask her "Hey, what happens to us,
        Em C
when we get old and in the way?"
G D - Em C
I guess she answered me, ‘cos they, they took me away.

       G D Em C
And I am fading, I am fading, I am fading away.
         G D Em C
I am fading, just like fairy tales, when the hero loses faith.
               G D
And I can’t remember, why or when,
       Em C
I hope that I’ll remember again.
             G - D - Em - C G - D - Em - C
    And I am fa…………..ding. And I’m fa………..…ding.
